Located outside of St. Louis, Missouri, STL Wedding Films is the result of turning passions for film and storytelling into meaningful work we are proud to share. STL Wedding Films are created by all of us. As a family of seven, we all understand the power of a good story and the nature of deep, human connection. Filming, editing, and story design are all handled by Mom & Dad (Paige & Kevin), and the rest of the crew may be found helping with anything from music consultation and sound design to screen testing and equipment transportation.
Our story:
In 2020, I had already spent about a decade in corporate America, and I knew I had more to give the world than spreadsheets and quarterly earnings reports. One day while implementing yet another project at work, I decided, “this would be way easier if I could just make it into a video.” On that fateful day, I was reintroduced to the rewarding experience of the creative process. Through video production and design, I began a personal renaissance that reconnected me to my former dreams of directing films and writing stories. After countless video projects and thousands of hours spent learning, editing, and filming both for my employer and as a hobby, I happened upon a wedding film. After I watched it, apart from getting overly emotional about the wedding of two complete strangers, I knew it was something I had to do, and I soon immersed myself into the world of real-life love stories as told through wedding films. Knowing that I had an ally with a keen eye for aesthetics and an aptitude for creating nearly anything she can imagine, I quickly recruited my wife, Paige. While neither one of us would have expected to find ourselves filming weddings five years ago, we have always had a shared goal to one day own and operate a wedding venue. So to work in the wedding industry together today feels a bit like a dream come true. On wedding days she functions as an incredible 2nd shooter. She knows how to capture brides looking their best and helps them feel their most relaxed. Apart from her contributions on the big day, Paige manages bookings and timelines to ensure everyone is where they need to be at exactly the right time. “But why wedding films?”
There are a lot of specialties we could have pursued in the field of videography, so oftentimes people ask, “why wedding videos?” I’ve always loved weddings, but they can be long, hectic days, and oftentimes, especially in Missouri, they are held in some pretty brutal weather conditions. To add to this charm, from a videographer’s perspective, key moments during a wedding day happen only one time. There are no, “take-two’s.” So that means we have to be in exactly the right place at the right time with the proper equipment in our hands. If a videographer misses capturing the look on a father’s face when he sees his little girl in her wedding dress, that moment is gone. It now only exists in the memory of those who were there, and sadly, memories start to fade just as we all eventually fade. With every wedding we shoot and each film we craft, we know we are creating a piece of a couple’s legacy. A wedding film is an heirloom. With that in mind each time we pick up our cameras and every time we’re in the editing bay, it’s impossible not to pour everything we have into making a great film. That’s why I fell in love with telling the stories of those who fall in love.
